About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Chestnut Grove Community Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and was founded in 1970 by people residing in the Chestnut Grove community who saw a need to maintain the building as the center of community activities as it had been when in operation as a school.  The mission is to improve the quality of life for youth and families in the community by providing services that promote community prosperity, physical health, and by offering programs and cultural events which preserve the African-American heritage.

Today, we carry forward our founders’ vision of working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for families in the community. As one of only three remaining Rosenwald Schools in Iredell County, we proudly serve as a symbol of resilience and dedication.

What makes us unique is that we operate entirely with volunteers. We have NO paid staff.  Every program, every event, every improvement is powered by the dedication of people who believe in the importance of this Center. However, to sustain and grow, we need your help.
